Watchdog calls for research partners
05.08.2009
The national passenger watchdog is putting its research portfolio out for tender, including the National Passenger Survey, the largest published passenger survey in Great Britain.
Passenger Focus, which is an official statistics provider, has advertised for tenders from research agencies which will put them in position to apply for projects within the independent passenger watchdog’s research programme.
Janet Cardell, Passenger Focus head of research, said: “Passenger Focus is a research based organisation, using passenger research to drive change for passengers. This research framework will help ensure we have high calibre agencies delivering the highest standard of research for the benefit of passengers.”
The successful applicants, who can demonstrate that they offer best value for money, will be given the opportunity to apply for ongoing projects including the National Passenger Survey, the Bus Passenger Satisfaction Survey as well as ad-hoc research. These agencies will be put on to a research framework for three to four years, with a performance review mid-way through the contract.
Passenger Focus spoke to over 83,000 passengers and published 14 research reports in 2008 to 2009 as part of its work to get a better deal for passengers. In 2009-10 Passenger Focus will speak to over 100,000 passengers and publish a similar number of research reports all used to drive change for passengers.
